I started writing on Medium about a year ago and have 2.2K followers currently. Other than one month where I posted an article ever day (April) I typically post about 5 articles per month.

It’s hard to do too much direct comparison, though, since Medium frequently changes their algorithm which can really affect how many views and therefore followers you get.

Also, followers tend to come in clumps: I may get only a handful one week and then a couple hundred another if an article does well.

Wish there was a better answer to your question but it’s just highly variable. Best advice I can give is:

1. Stick to a schedule (e.g. once a week) and stick to it.
2. Write about things you really care about (makes #1 easier).
3. Build relationships with fellow writers in a similar spot as you and support each other. Positive feedback from your peers early on is SUPER important!
