I think the relationship between self-acceptance and self-Help is really important and largely overlooked.

As a therapist, I think a lot about this, and as a writer I’m always struggling to balance both. As you suggests, we’ve probably swung too far toward the change side of the spectrum. And I imagine that even if change is a person’s goal, it may first — somewhat paradoxically — require acceptance.
