Just saw your post and really enjoyed it! It’s a good example of another thing we “self-Help writers” should be doing more of: Looking for tensions/paradoxes in our own field and thinking through them carefully!

As to your question, yes, I totally agree that introspection and self knowledge are key.

Two follow-ups I have would be:

  • How do you “sell/market” introspection? That is, how do you gently persuade someone who could benefit from self-knowledge to take on that task when they’re not even aware that they need to? More concretely, and strategically, as writers how to we introduce introspection in a way that’s friendly and accessible? (Not expecting direct answers here, obviously, just talking out loud!)
  • Second, is introspection always a necessary first step before change? Are there situations where change (even if very small) is required for introspection first?
