I’m skeptical of personality as an over-arching concept.

Most of us are pretty uncomfortable with ambiguity, incoherence, fragmentation, randomness and change. And a lot of the time, talking about personality seems to be a nice way to make ourselves feel clear, coherent, unified, ordered, and conistent.

In other words, lack of narrative about our selves scares us, and so we construct this thing called personality as a way to alleviate that fear.

Of course we all have inclinations and tendencies, and habits, but I’m doubtful that talking about Personality ads much beyond this.

Nice piece 👍
